I believe the best and only way to create social change in the technology century world we live in today is through the internet. We live in this world that focuses more on their internet status than social status. Although many think this technology world has improved everyones lives, I disagree; it is endangering us. But, since our world is zoned into a five inch screened device more than the local and national newspaper it only makes sense that we would pay more attention to an activist movement ad that pops up on our Instagram, Facebook, or Twitter feed. All it takes now is to simply click “like” on an activist post, or change your profile picture to said activism. With those simple actions you can join the activist and spread more knowledge about it. The reason internet social change works the best is because it is the easiest way of interaction among a nation (or world), inexpensive, and fast. Anne Hallward’s internet radio, Safe Space Radio, created social change for people. There is no face-to-face contact, so people are able to speak their thoughts without being seen. Without face-to-face contact, people are more comfortable to give their opinion because there isn’t anyone there to judge them. Hiding behind a screen gives a sense of power to the individual. With this power the user gets more confidence that they might not have in a face-to-face situation. Social change over the internet works so strongly because it enables the individual to stay hidden, and take their time in thinking and typing what to do/say.
